There does not seem to be anything special about that site. I just threw this page together... <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html><head> <meta content="text/html; charset=unicode" http-equiv="Content-Type"> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18904"></head> <body><iframe height="300" src="myframe.htm" width="100%"> <p>Your browser does not support iframes.</p> </iframe></body></html> And it displays fine in IE8. The HTML for the frame is... <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html><head><title>myFrame</title> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18904"> <meta content="text/html; charset=unicode" http-equiv="Content-Type"></head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff"> <h1 align="center">myFrame</h1> <h2 align="left">Heading 2</h2> <p>Normal</p> <p align="center"><font size="1">This Web Page Created with PageBreeze </font><a href="http://www.pagebreeze.com" target=_blank><font size="1">Free HTML Editor</font></a></p></body></html> Lambert -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jim Lawrence Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2010 11:24 AM To: 'Access Developers discussion and problem solving' Subject: Re: [AccessD] Is IE8 crippled? Hi Lambert: That is interesting Lambert. I wonder if " http://www.w3schools.com " has some kind of meta tag setting that fixes IE8? I'm currently looking at this site in IE8 http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_iframe And it is displaying the iFrame perfectly well, and no, w3schiools.com is *not* in the compatibility mode list. It is supposed to have a compatibility mode -- set it to be backwards compatible. 2. Uninstall IE8. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197 Regards, Karen Rosenstiel Seattle WA USA -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jim Lawrence Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2010 12:03 AM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues'; 'Access Developers discussion and problem solving' Subject: [AccessD] Is IE8 crippled? Importance: High I must have been out of the loop but I have just installed the latest version of IE8 on one of my test computers as I am doing a series of browser tests for a new client's web site. It appears the IE8 does not support IFRAMES even for local domains... This is going to require a major rewrite with a lot of coding... as well it screws up JQuery in various ways. To say the least IE8 looks like a nightmare. Any help or suggestions?
