John - your points are well taken. A tabbed interface can be emulated via
HTML web form.
Why it isn't used more often ? Dunno.

The other issue is search which is a tough one.

Of significance:
1) search within search.
2) category assignments and selection

I don't know about Lowesbuilder, but www.lowes.com has a nice search
facility with category breakdown as well as high-lighted popular categories
which is probably assigned based on statistical average of hits.
