Basic starting approach:

 

Always remember that the X at the top corner does not end a windows session

It asks windoze to tell the app that you want the app to go away for now 
That's why you get asked do you want to save your work!

Use the END  option from task manager - or Resource Monitor

 

Remember that EDGE will keep whatever was in a browser tab running  for speed at getting it back for you !Resource Monitor

or is that speed for it to get back AT you ?

 

Setup a shortcut to the browser  such as     msedge.exe" --guest

(well whatever is the option on your browser if you cannot use the windoze sandbox ( which was reported a while ago on US-CERT as not actually safe to use ))

 

Have a few hotmail id's setup to use for sites you are not sure about 
You can point your outlook to also get emails from those accounts, and select them as the From 
And  if you get unwanted stuff from the Hotmail account you can just discard it from the Outlook accounts list- Maybe also be nice and tell Hotmail you don't want it anymore  

 

 

Your email and connection id can easily be harvested from any post you make to most forums  - especially those that broadcast poste via email.

 

You are actually letting the contacted site know your system's web id  anyhow - even if you use the --guest mode - or any similar process 
So - maybe a VPN  for the Hotmail id 
Maybe TOR browser ?

 

Try to keep your monetary dealings on a separate system from your general browsing and social interaction.

And restrict what you post on social media, especially photos that may contain your location 
Yup - that garden antics of the pet picture may tell others that you live @ .. and have a dog, and a pet door big enough for a skinny adult to crawl through - or reach the key in the lock.

 

If possible - pass the pictures through your PC  and then - maybe an edited version of that (hoping the editor will remove the metadata) back to the camera/phones image storage.

Note - some banks requiring an image of you, may require the image direct from your phone  not as saved to the PC.

And  the NHS in the UK was requiring that those seeking covid passes and NOT  wanting to pass the NHS an image of themselves  should allow the NHS app to take control of the camera on your device to get your image !  ?

I know. 😉 Mostly, I did sub because I wanted a discount or whatever... but when I unsub, it just never happens. I get emails from headhunters and the like--never subscribed, and on and on.

Unless it's something you know you have actually subscribed to,  just about every "unsub" 

link does nothing other than  adding you to yet another list of known valid emails for spammers.
