"Many programmers may not be familiar with LibreOffice Basic, so LibreOffice supports macros written in three other languages that may be more familiar: BeanShell, JavaScript, and Python."

I'm comfortable with VBA and Windows API calls for most of the MS Office suite and have coded in Access, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Project and even Outlook before Microsoft gimped most of the useful Outlook functionality. Libre Office certainly offers options.

I wonder whether Microsoft ever fixed the Sendkeys VBA bugs before spending time messing with the interface and making it ever more mouse dependent. I expect that the Sendkeys bug still exists after over 25 years of being well known and understood. The help files were once extensive and rich with samples and readily accessible back in 97 and 2000 versions. I paid for the 2003 suite and that's the end of me paying Microsoft for anything other than Windows. My current home PC has been running an unregistered unactivated version of Windows for 4 years and it won't allow me to directly modify user preferences but otherwise runs without complaint. My newest laptop came with Windows so I guess they got one pound of flesh.

I also use LibreOffice. However it has no vba compatible anything so for
programming I use MS Access and VBA.
