If the video controller will do the higher resolution,
then maybe connecting to a HD, or 4K TV as a screen extension would do.
Re your question -
If you (manage to) change the resolution, then that will be for the entire
desktop - and the text on all apps !
Options to start considering -
for just a larger display at same resolution as the laptop one -
maybe have the external screen echo what would be on the laptop (desktop)
and stop the laptop closing down when the screen is closed.
Otherwise have the large screen as an extension to the laptop one
Desktop taskbar etc. stays on the laptop, and the TV gets to take the app with a
larger resolution, and bigger pixels
Very useful mode for my excel worksheets (drag Excel to that extended screen
device and expand it as well as Zoom out)
with things like email and browser left on the laptop screen.
I have been recommending that if being used outside of the home location a 17"
laptop is much more likely to get damaged than a 15" one,
And being heavier more likely to get put down - and not be there to be picked up
later!
So - smallish laptop and home setup -
Wireless mouse , keyboard and TV screen on the wall, as well as a large storage
device.
Maybe a thumb trackball, and an almost fully recessed SD card to go inside the
device -
Attach that partition as a folder in your 'user' environment encrypted storage
for IE favourites
or - for EDGE I drag the link from the address bar to the desktop and then into
a
Folder structure that is set to be a Toolbar on the right hand end of the
taskbar.

Subject: [AccessD] Screen Resolution
Is it possible to change the screen resolution upon entry to an Access app,
and then restore the original resolution on exit? The laptop I'm working on
just doesn't have enough real estate to show the whole thing without
scrollbars. On the client's machine there is no problem. But here at home
on my laptop it's a PITA.
