[dba-SQLServer]Is it just me?

I'll take a wild stab that it was your DSL software that caused the 
problem... but even on a Self Installation why would you need to use the 
CD, I mean it's a standard network connection from the Nic to the Modem. 
  I wonder if you could just go in and remove any of the bindings with 
PPPoE and everything might work after that... tho I'd make a full system 
backup before messing w/ your network configuration...
