Hello Ron,

new to sql server so happy to be corrected

but I would use	the workflow properties and an active x script.

1)Add Active x Script task
2)Right Click on icon, select workflow - workflow properties
3)Select Options tab
4)Click Use ActiveXscript
5)Click propeties
6)Write script to check query result and determine success failure
Afraid I can't send script as mail sweeper here blocks it
However BOL, under using active X script in DTS gives an example which you
could adapt.

hope this helps

john

Subject: [dba-SQLServer] Fail a DTS Step Based on Query Result?

Is it possible to fail a step in a DTS package delibertaely, based on a
value
returned from a query? I would like to branch differently depending on the
results of a SQL task, but the only options are on completion, on success,
or
on failure. I don't see a way to do this, but it sure would be convenient.

Thanks,

Ron
