I am running XP Pro on 3 boxes and 2K Advanced Server on one box. The two most advanced boxes can see each other. The two least advanced boxes can see each other. Nobody can see all four. The "server" box is the most paleolithic of them all (twin P3s), second is a P4 with 1GB and a 1.5GZ chip, the other pair are 2GB 2GZ, one duo-core. The latter two can see each other, the former two can see each other. Dinosaur: P2 * 2, 400MZ chips, 1GB RAM, running W2K AdvancedServer; does nothing but run SQL 2000. Ex Main Squeeze: P4 1GB RAM, 1.5GZ chip, XP Pro New Main Squeeze: duo-core 2GB 2GZ XP Pro Notebook: P4 2GB 2GZ XP Pro Each box has its own licence (the latter two came pre-installed, the former two I installed with unique XP licences). All boxes have all service patches installed. I experimented since sending the original message, and it seems that I can't simply remove a box from a workgroup. I could perhaps add it to a new WG, or alternatively create a Domain. I don't understand the difference between a WG and a domain, so I haven't ventured down that road. What would happen if I just went box to box and specified a new WG name? Maybe then everyone would see everyone else? We've got 6 machines here and some can push onto other machines. Some can pull from. I can't figure it out either. But we have some mixed OSes - XP Home, XP Pro, W2K. What are you running? All the same? All of them were set up in a workgroup, but for some reason my main box cannot see two of the machines, and those two machines cannot see the other two machines. They all have the same workgroup name and they all have a user called Arthur with the same password. Would it perhaps work if I removed the workgroup from all four boxes, or simply changed its name, or anything else. I really need to copy about 30 GB to one of the machines that I cannot see yet.
