Susan,

FYI: Delivery receipts would give you what you want to know.

I seldom ask for a read receipt, and when I have, it's been because I
was
having trouble with an isp -- and just wanting to make sure the message
arrived. A few times, I've gotten a rather rude message that lets me
know
that the recipient doesn't "support" that feature -- which I took to
mean
that they had the "Never send a response" feature enabled -- which, I
admit,
annoyed me.

You might want to consider the other side of the problem. If you annoy
customers/clients by telling them their message isn't important enough
to
allow them to track it... Well... It's just another insult.

Jon,

I'm using Outlook 2003. Here are the directions for 2003...

In Outlook, go to the following screen...

Tools|Options Click the E-Mail Options button. Click the Tracking
Options button. Click the bullet that says... "Never send a response".

Subject: [dba-Tech] Blocking read receipts in Outlook 2000

Hi all

I've been asked to find out why the options to allow or block sending
read
receipts from Outlook 2000 are greyed out, and if it's possible to force
Outlook to block them.

It's bad for business if customers see that we've read an email, and
then
don't reply to it for 2 days, so what we'd like to do is deny all
requests
for read receipts. I just can't find how to do it, even after looking on
Slipstick and Google...

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

Jon
