I did delete the hardware def, but did not reboot. I'll try it that way. I did the cold boot thing. Did the battery thing and I pressed every button on the mouse and the base. LOL. The system will not even recognize an old corded mouse. Device manager showed no mouse when it was not connected. As soon as I plugged it into a USB port, device manager recognized it and added it to the list.
