Also, of course, if the PC has been hibernated, that must be detected quite early in the boot sequence - but where, I have no clue. But clearly there are several stages during booting when something different can be done... When system changes are made they must be made before the system boots... That information must be stored somewhere in the system, retrieved, a specific operation is then performed and then the system continues the reboot.... Now what and where would that be? As it is done all the time you would think the knowlege would be fairly common.... but I have not been able to find it.
