Two of them are facebook, one is the radio times online tv guide, and two were sites I was looking at to find hints for a best mans speech. I've noticed that if I close IE, and reopen the pages it's not using anywhere near as much, like it doesn't empty it's cache until you close it, regardless of whether you close the tab or not. Seems a bit odd to me though. What are the particular URL's, if you do not mind? I just checked and I have 7 tabs open, two of which contain large .pfd files and I'm running just at 51 megs... I thought I was seeing things when I noticed that IE7 was using over 500mb of RAM last week, tonight it's using 1gb. I've only got 4 tabs open, and it's not like I'm running complex weather calculations in java programs or anything... Why is it doing this? I have 2gb of RAM, but when IE is using more than half of it, it starts to get a bit slow. I don't think it's anything bad, because I only reinstalled Windows at Easter, and I put on fully updated version of a firewall, antivirus and antispyware before I let it loose on the internet. I even ran it with al lthe addons disabled, and it still eats memory. I was thinking of getting more memory for the PC anyway, but that was for performance in games, not for IE! Something isn't right here...
