Thanks for the reply, Stuart, It would certainly appear the Sun VirtualBox is much faster. Are you using the free version? does it support USB and does it have one file for the virtual machine or many files like VMware? Is your Vista Vista 32 or 64? I always fully "Power off the machine" - still only takes 15 secs or so to restart. Note that this is using Sun VirtualBox. It may just be faster than the VMWare or Microsoft equivalents.
