Hi John Doen't this prove it? Time for an afternoon beer! After the next moon you'll be heading for an eight CPU machine ... /gustav >>> jwcolby at colbyconsulting.com 15-02-2008 18:27 >>> Naw, on to other things. I was trying to discover whether or not upgrading my processors to the quad core was worthwhile and whether upgrading the server OS and SQL Server to x64 was worth while. It certainly appears to be. I will need to wait awhile for the quad core upgrade as I am using the AMD Phenom and it has a bug which will be fixed in the next stepping due out next month. I can do an immediate upgrade to my other server though to install the X64 software. Until a couple of months ago I had never tried to run X64. I was just afraid that I would spend dozens of hours trying to track down drivers and such. It turned out to "just work" which says something given that I am doing hardware RAID as well (two different controllers now). There are still issues with things like virus scanners and software firewalls but given that these are servers where I do not browse the internet or do email the risk is substantially smaller than it otherwise might be. I suggest a Friday beer! This goes for JC as well. His head must be spinning trying to get hold on all his CPUs and GBs. /gustav >>> carbonnb at gmail.com 15-02-2008 18:04 >>> On Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 11:56 AM, Erwin Craps - IT Helps <Erwin.Craps at ithelps.eu> wrote: > I stand corrected. > PAL=25fps > > Please don't shoot me before the weekend is over. We won't shoot you. We'll just make you read the NTSC discussion that Gustav posted :) Like I said, it really doesn't matter for computer videos. -- Bryan Carbonnell - carbonnb at gmail.com Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "What a great ride!" at an age of 27 ...
