[dba-Tech] Open source trend -- seeking opinions and insight

I'm writing about open source -- in short, the trend and why -- seems money 
is the motivator, but once in place, orgs benefit from the flexibility and 
reduced dependency on vendors.

If you're supporting open source, would you comment? I'd like to hear your 
views -- good and bad.
