Here is a little bit of trivia about the connection speeds standardized in countries around the world. At one time Canada and the US had the highest rating and now they are well below even the top 10. Without the higher speeds new technology can not be fully implemented. Other countries have taken the lead because of a more open enterprise culture or/and strongly directed government standards. Monopolies in both the US and Canada and the governments policies of let the market take care of itself has lead to this weakened position... Let us hope the government will take a more pro-active stance as it is unlikely monopolies have any impedus to improve.
