[dba-Tech] Breaking up an mp3 file

Dear Lists:
 
I have an mp3 file - an audio book - it's about 250MB.  I need to break it
up into about 10 files (don't ask).  Audacity is too slow (takes about 8
minutes just to load the file) and awkward for this (it's great BTW to
transpose an mp3 to a different key - I use it for that a lot).
 
Is there something free easy and fast that would get this job done?
