Hi Shamil: I have a Samsung 6100 which has its own version (aversions) of Linux (Bada or Tizen) running it, which does suggest it can be upgraded or replaced easily. It does have multiple HDMI connectors, wireless capabilities, a direct LAN connection and even has the old RCA type jacks. It has an internet browser of sorts but nothing like the current crop of PC browsers. It also has "gesture" capabilities from its hand controller. Whether it can be hacked and a separate OS installed I can not tell you but I was looking into that before the current contract absorbed most of my time. I do run much of its content from a windows version of PS3 Media Server, installed, on a server, on the network. It is great for managing content libaries like running presentations, tutorials (mostly saved YouTube and MS), family and other movies. It also offers the capabilities of managing music and photo but I have not played with those features yet. Hi All -- I'm not sure is such a subject Smart TV set exist or not? Do you know about any? Basically I'd like to have a TV Set (running some embedded Linux or Win7/8): - with built-in or "dongle-driven" WiFi connection; - stream video, audio, view pics from a LAN DLNA server connected via WiFi (like that http://mywindows8.org/connect-samsung-dlna-enabled-smart-tv/ ) - with a full internet browser to browse at any available LAN locations as well as at Internet sites via WiFi connection; - with ability to view text and PDF files - if that would be available only via browser - that would be OK. I'm no looking for a monoblock PC or a TV set connected to a PC via HDMI but a TV set with features as I have tried to outline above. Could you please advise any? Thank you. -- Салахетдинов Шамиль _______________________________________________ dba-Tech mailing list dba-Tech at databaseadvisors.com http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/dba-tech Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com
