It batteries are not soldered on like some manufactures, uses rivets instead of screws but there will be some glue melting to allow you to get into the case. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Microsoft+Surface+Pro+Teardown/12842/1 ...but be sure to make a screw sheet show the screw locations as there is about a hundred screws...even worse than the Dells.
