On another note, you should mention to your fellow that Samba 4.0 can now replace a windows active directory server altogether. Not only that, but if you have multiple Samba servers, they can figure out when talking to each other that they are Linux Samba servers and automatically switch to much faster file transfer speeds, because Samba does it better than Windows servers. :)
