Hi Mike: Thanks for that info...I could have used your help about four years back when it took me a whole afternoon to discover MS SQL had network connection turned off by default...I thought it was stupid then and have not changed my views since. But that is one issue I will never forget. No, I was not using an MS SQL DB or anything new for that matter. It seems that the system may be more seriously corrupted...a combination of software and hardware. You have to enable the access through the network deliberately, it's not a default setting. It's fairly easy under SQL Server Configuration in the start menu.
