Can't help you with your issue, but I was able to install fine in VMWare
Workstation 10.

In accordance with instructions, I attempted to install the latest virgin
on my ancient sqeeze, an 8yo desktop who still works reliably. I went
through the installation process and received no error messages, but so far
as I can see, nothing changed.

Any suggestions as to what went sideways and how I might fix it?
