SSD will make an old machine positively snappy. (Note: It will usually cost about $40.00 to $50.00 to have a guy at the local computer store to do the backup and re-install...plus of course the price of the hardware.)

If you want you can always try to duel boot your system...of course this depends on the resources of the computer.

Thanks, Gustav.  That's what I needed to know.  Looks like my machine 
can handle the requirements.  Also interested in adding the SSD.  Ah, my
