I think a discussion of the big picture is still useful.  After that whether we want or need to make 
changes and if so what kind.

And that is the source of the problem, we are in fact on auto-pilot and have been for years. 
Auto-pilot in the current age really does imply gradual decline.

Several people have stated that they find this objectionable and that's cool but before we jump in 
and madly start "fixing" things I think that we should discuss our place in the world.  If there is 
a consensus to fix it then I will absolutely support that.
