As Gary said, if you turn off WiFi your phone should be able to access the
internet.  Even our older, maybe 4-5 years Android phones can get the
internet (we have verizon wireless service).  I know it's probably not cost
efficient but we always get provider supplied routers, any problems come
and fix it or replace it.  In terms of WiFi we have 12 "things" hitting
WiFi with no speed issues.
