The fact is that within 10 years, ninety percent and maybe more of all applications will be on the web and not on the desktop. Those new applications will have to run and work on all browsers and on all platforms. Unless Microsoft is planning to move such proprietary packages as Silverlight and WPF off the desktop, their future will be limited and/or short lived. MS's bold move for ASP.Net is the first step and then there is more. How about forgetting the ancient languages trying to look like the new, easier languages?
